Sculptures by Int/Adv Sculpture

Assistant Professor of Art Nicole Pietrantoni is the recipient of a 2015 Fellowship from the Artist Trust. The $7500 award recognizes artistic excellence in the state in the state of Washington. Recipients are selected by peer panels consisting of artists and arts professionals from around and outside the Northwest.

Outpost Projects is an artist residency/ timeshare/ exhibition/ vacation rental/ experimental space located in the high desert of California, near the village and National Park of Joshua Tree. The site includes a renovated jackrabbit homestead cabin on five acres of pristine desert filled with Joshua trees and dramatic skies.

Nicole Pietrantoni is the 2015 Marvin Bileck Visiting Artist in Printmaking at Bowdoin College. The Marvin Bileck Printmaking Project brings a guest artist to Bowdoin College for one week every semester to give students the opportunity to participate in an intensive workshop with a nationally renowned artist. During Nicole's visit she is teaching a drumleaf bookbinding workshop, a laser-engraved monoprinting workshop, and a special workshop for the People, Power, Planet Symposium titled "Bookmaking for Expression and Social Change."


 

Assistant Professor of Art Richard Martinez is having a solo exhibit of new paintings at the Roger W. Rogers Gallery at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. The show, which features eight new oil on canvas paintings by Martinez is titled "Straddling Possibilities." The recent compositions pair understated minimalist grids with bright and saturated fields of color, and juxtapose hard-edged geometric forms with expressive brushstrokes. The exhibit runs through the end of the fall semester.

Visiting Artist Veronica Siehl will be hosting an Artist Lecture, April 9, 2015, 4pm, FCVA 201.

A Cyanotype Workshop will be held April 10, 1-5pm.

Rodin to Warhol: 60th Anniversary Gifts and Acquisitions, McNay Art Museum, San Antonio, Texas.  February 18 to May 17.  The McNay Museum recently acquired a painting by Martinez, and it is on exhibit.

The eight annual juried Winter Student Art Salon opening celebration will be
from 3-5 p.m. Jan. 24th in the Sheehan Gallery at Whitman College, 345 Boyer Ave.

The Show runs through Feb. 13 and features student artwork created in studio art
courses in 2014.
Sheehan Gallery is open noon-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and noon-4p.m. on Sat. and Sun.
