the immiscible edges

Michelle Acuff    "the immiscible edges"

First Thursday August 7th opening show  5pm to 8pm,  The White Box, 24 NW First Ave, Portland, Oregon

Show runs from August 8th to September 13th.

As a sculptor and installation artist, I involve viewers in a phenomenological situation, in which the experience of objects is ambiguous, corporal and direct. During the last year I have been developing works that pronounce ecological devastation as a manifestation of the contemporary sublime. I marry ersatz images and industrially produced commercial objects with the sedulously organic and hand-made. This irreverent material stew articulates the tenuousness of my connection to the natural world, the precarity of the environmental and social realities we face, and a range of my own material, psychological and emotional responses to them.
